NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk State women's tennis team picked up a 7-0 win over Randolph-Macon to close the season out on Saturday afternoon.
NSU finished the season 10-8 while Randolph-Macon fell to 8-12 overall.
Andrea Macchiavello and Mafalda Lhorca competed in match one of the doubles competition, where they posted an 8-0 win against Angelina Sportelli and Olayemisi Ogunshina. In match two, Maryna Kariuk and Yvonne Kamegne defeated Caty-Betz Holcomb and Violet Hahn, 8-1. Laura Gutierrez and Rebecca Graff closed out the doubles matches with an 8-0 victory over Alise Witt and Jamie Ramsey.
The Spartans continued to shine in the singles competition. Macchiavello (9-6) claimed a 6-0, 6-1 win against Courtney Owens. In match two, Gutierrez (8-8) defeated Morgan Parkes, 6-0, 6-1. At the No. 3 spot, Lhorca (10-5) claimed a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Madison Guidry. Kariuk (4-5) competed at the No. 4 spot, where she posted a 6-1, 6-0 win against Mackenzie Nunnally. In match five, Graff (8-3) held off Reba Sledd, 6-0, 6-1. Kia Batiste competed in match six and posted a 6-0, 6-0 over Ramsey.
