Live Statistics (All 3 games)  |  Live Video (All 3 games)

NORFOLK, Va. -
The Norfolk State baseball team hosts its final MEAC Northern Division home series this weekend as division leader Delaware State visits Marty L. Miller Field for a trio of games. The teams' doubleheader starts at 1 p.m. Saturday, and they conclude the weekend with a single game at noon on Sunday.

Live statistics and live video are available for all three games.

The Spartans (15-22, 10-8 MEAC) enter the weekend coming off a 9-4 non-conference set-back against VMI on Wednesday. The Spartans do, however, boast a streak of five straight weekend series victories, a run which includes taking two of three from the Hornets (27-12, 16-2) in Dover, Del., April 6-7. NSU's only conference series loss this season came at the hands of DSU, which swept all three meetings at NSU on March 16-17.

Leading the way for the NSU offense are a pair of juniors, first baseman Zach Markel and outfielder Cameron Day. Markel is 14th in the league in batting with a .321 average. He has a team-high 27 RBI and 44 total hits. Day is 13th in the MEAC with a .326 average. He has a team-best 10 doubles and 13 extra-base hits, including one triple and two homers.

The Spartan pitchers have been strong lately during weekend series. The trio of Chris Horne, Justin Bhatti and Richie Salter allowed one earned run combined against Coppin State over three games last weekend. Horne, who has tossed a shutout in his last two MEAC appearances, is 4-0 with a 3.16 ERA against MEAC opponents.

The Hornets, meanwhile, have won eight of their last 11 games since dropping that doubleheader to NSU on April 6, but are coming off a 7-2 home defeat to Navy on Wednesday. DSU leads the MEAC in team batting average (.313), some 41 points ahead of second-place NSU (.272). Mike Alexander is second in the league with a .382 batting average, while Hassan Evans and Cameron Cecil are tied for fourth with a .357 mark. The weekend rotation of Jordan Elliott, Matt McClain and Elliott Gardner are a combined 17-3 with five shutouts and nine complete games.
