NORFOLK, Va. - Norfolk State looks for its first three-game win streak in three years in addition to a 3-0 MEAC start when the Spartans welcome Delaware State for Homecoming this Saturday. Kickoff is at 2 p.m. at Dick Price Stadium.
SCOUTING THE SPARTANSNSU (2-4 overall, 2-0 MEAC) earned its second straight win and remained unbeaten in conference play with a 14-7 win at Savannah State last Saturday. Junior quarterback
Tyler Clark passed for 153 yards and a touchdown and also ran for a career-high 106 yards and another score. His TD pass covered 21 yards to
Isaac White, who led NSU with three catches for 84 yards.
The Spartan defense, meanwhile, held SSU to just 252 total yards and seven points. The Spartan defensive front limited the Tigers to just 13 rushing yards on 23 attempts.
Despite the statistical edges in most areas, NSU didn't clinch the win until its defense came up with two turnovers on downs in the fourth quarter. That included a 4th-and-1 stop by linebacker
Lynden Trail at the Spartans' 22-yard line.

Deon King had eight tackles apiece to lead the Spartans. NSU also got a big contribution from defensive tackle
George Riddick, who had 2.5 tackles for loss and two sacks.
The NSU defense continues to lead the MEAC and is now sixth in the nation in total defense (271 yards per game allowed). Offensively, White is third in the MEAC in total receiving yards (326) and is fifth in receptions (24).
SCOUTING THE HORNETSDelaware State (1-5, 1-1 MEAC) lost its first conference game of the season last Saturday, a 27-7 decision at Bethune-Cookman in Daytona Beach, Fla. The Wildcats jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back.
DSU's only touchdown came late in the first quarter when Terrick Colston returned an interception 11 yards for a score. Otherwise, the Wildcats controlled play most of the game, outgaining DSU 435-168 in total yardage. DSU ran for just 41 yards on 20 carries, with Malcolm Williams gaining 39 of those yards. Quarterback Gilbert Rivera completed 15-of-37 passes for 81 yards.
The Hornets enter today's game ranked last in the MEAC in total offense, at 217.8 yards per game. Rivera has thrown for 679 yards and four touchdowns this year, but has also thrown a MEAC-high seven interceptions. His favorite target is Milton Williams, who has 27 catches for 368 yards and three touchdowns. He ranks among the conference's top five in all three of those categories.
Colston has a team-leading 40 tackles, while linemen Rodney Gunter and Gabe Sherrod have four sacks apiece.
