NORFOLK, Va. - The Spartan women (1-5 overall) return home for the first time in two weeks and open MEAC play this Saturday by hosting Morgan State (2-5). Tip-off is at 4 p.m. at Joseph Echols Hall.

The game has been designated a "Black Out." All fans are encouraged to wear black to the game.

This will be NSU's only game during the first 15 days of December, as the team will be off next week for first-semester exams.

Last Time Out
Veronica Ryan scored 17 points, including eight in overtime, as Nicholls State pulled away for a 69-64 overtime win over the Spartans on the second day of the Teresa Phillips Thanksgiving Classic at the Gentry Center on Sunday. Neither team led by more than seven points in regulation. The Colonels (2-2) took their first lead in nine minutes when Marina Lilly scored on a put-back to give her team a 56-54 lead with 1:54 left in regulation. NSU senior guard Rae Corbo, who led all scorers with 21 points, tied the game on a jumper with 53 seconds left in the second half.

Ryan hit a 3-pointer on Nicholls State's first possession of the extra period and the Colonels never trailed again. A Roberts layup brought NSU within 59-58, but the Colonels scored the next five points to take control of the overtime.

Corbo had 21 points and Kayla Roberts added 16 for NSU.

About MSU
Morgan State is 2-5 after a 79-50 loss at Bucknell on Wednesday night. Senior guard Tracey Carrington, a preseason All-MEAC first-team selection, leads MSU and ranks fourth in the MEAC in scoring, at 19.3 points per game. The Lady Bears are still seeking their first Division I win of the season, as their only victories to date in 2014-15 were over Wesley (90-50 on Nov. 18) and Washington Adventist (66-44 on Nov. 20). Their non-conference schedule has been quite difficult aside from those two games, with losses at Georgia, Georgia Tech, Texas Tech and Oklahoma State.

All-Time Series vs. Morgan State
NSU is 18-13 all-time against Morgan State, including a two-game season sweep of the teams' meetings last season. NSU won both games by single digits, including a 64-63 win in Baltimore in the teams' most recent matchup. The Spartans have won five of the last seven games against the Lady Bears.

Roberts Honored by the MEAC
Freshman forward Kayla Roberts has won the MEAC's last two Rookie of the Week honors. Roberts, who was also named to the all-tournament team at the Teresa Phillips Thanksgiving Classic last weekend, averaged 19.5 points and 8.0 rebounds in the games with Tennessee State and Nicholls State. Roberts ranks 12th in the MEAC in scoring (12.7 ppg), tops among conference freshmen. Her 6.5 rebounds per game are tied for seventh in the MEAC, and are also the most of any MEAC freshman.

All-Tournament, Times 2
NSU was the only school at the Teresa Phillips Thanksgiving Classic hosted by Tennessee State to place two players on the five-member all-tournament team. Kayla Roberts (19.5 ppg, 8.0 rpg, 50% FG) and Rae Corbo (19.5 ppg, 5.0 apg, 4.5 rpg) both earned the honor after tying for the tournament lead with 39 total points scored.
