NSU Wraps Up Season With 7-0 Loss to Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. – The women's tennis team wrapped up the season with a 7-0 loss to Richmond on Saturday afternoon at the Westhampton Tennis Complex.

NSU's loss gives the Spartans an 8-10 regular season mark. Richmond improved to 7-11 on the season.

Richmond swept the doubles competition. Melissa Kandinata and Anna Morales teamed up to defeat Andrea Macchiavello and Liza Gordeeva. In the No. 2 position, Krystal Scott and Mafalda Lhorca suffered an 8-2 loss to Brittany Boys and Katya Salas. Marie Habiyaremye and Yvonne Kamegne closed out doubles play with an 8-2 loss against Elizabeth Sims and Denny Lamachia.

Gordeeva finished the regular season with a 10-7 record after falling to Abadias at the No. 1 singles spot, 6-1, 6-3. Boys knocked off Macchiavello, 6-2, 6-2 in the No. 2 position. Lhorca suffered a 6-4, 6-2 loss to Sims in the No. 3 slot. Kandinata upended Kamegne in the No. 4 position, 6-1, 6-0. Scott put up a fight in the No. 5 spot, but could not come out with the victory. Salas defeated her 4-6, 6-0, 1-0(5). Ana Popovic competed at the No. 6 position, where she fell to Kelsey Williams, 6-0, 6-0.
