Williams Named AP All-America Honorable Mention

NORFOLK, Va. – Senior guard Pendarvis Williams of the Norfolk State men's basketball team was named Associated Press All-America honorable mention as the organization announced its all-america teams today.

Williams was one 54 players nationally to earn AP All-America honors, which included five players each on the first, second and third teams and 39 who garnered honorable mention accolades.

The Philadelphia native is the second NSU player in three years to earn AP All-America honorable mention along with Kyle O'Quinn in 2012.

Williams earned second-team All-MEAC and first-team NABC All-District 15 honors this season after leading the Spartans to a 19-15 overall record and a CollegeInsider.com Tournament appearance. He averaged a team-leading 15.6 points per game with 4.9 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.5 steals this year, all career highs as well.

Williams was also named to the 2013 Lou Henson All-America Team by CollegeInsider.com for mid-major players and a finalist for the Lou Henson Award. He was recently invited to play in this year's Reese's College All-Star Game, which consists of 20 of the top senior college basketball players in the country, during the Final Four festivities on Friday.
