Senior
Janay Frazier had three kills early in the match to help NSU build a 6-2 lead. UMES called timeout a short time later down by five, and then with the score 12-8 in favor of the Spartans, the Hawks took control. A kill by Ashley Smith started a 14-1 run that had the Hawks up by as much as nine.
The two squads went back and forth early in the second, with the Spartans using back-to-back solo blocks by sophomore
Clarke Tyler to eventually go up, 7-6. The score remained tight until UMES started scoring two or three points for every point from NSU. It ended as a 12-4 run for the Hawks. Kills by Parker and sophomore
Hope Forsythe helped the Spartans get to within four, 23-19, before falling short.
NSU's third active senior, setter
Darcy Moore, had a kill in the third set that put the Spartans ahead by a 5-4 margin. But again the Hawks had an answer, this time thanks to a 7-0 spurt. After a service ace from junior
Sydney Dailey cut the Hawk lead to five, UMES began an 8-3 run that pushed the lead to double digits. Then with Moore leading the way on serve, NSU won five straight before UMES setter Petra Jerabkova put down one of her three kills on the night to finish the sweep.
The Spartans hit .101 for the match but committed 23 attack errors. Although the Hawks had a 7.5-4.0 advantage in blocks, UMES also hit five more service errors than the Spartans (7-2).
