Listen LiveNORFOLK, Va. -Â The Norfolk State women's basketball team plays its first MEAC game of the season this Saturday as the Spartans travel to Baltimore to face Morgan State. The game tips off at 2 p.m. at Hill Field House in Baltimore, Md. It is also the conference-opener for the Bears, who are looking to end a six-game losing streak and win their first Division I game of the season.

Scouting NSU: NSU fell to 0-5 on the season after a 92-34 loss to No. 8 Mississippi State on Friday, Nov. 27. In the Spartans' second-ever game against an SEC opponent, NSU was held to 27 percent shooting and committed 23 turnovers against the nationally-ranked Lady Bulldogs.
Koryn Lawrence scored a team-high 12 points and added three assists for the Spartans, who were also 0-of-4 from 3-point range.
Ashante Doby scored a season-high seven points off the NSU bench.
Three Spartans average in double figures this season, led by
Kayla Roberts at 11.8 points and a team-high 9.6 rebounds per game. Lawrence averages 11.2 and
Siobhan Beslow contributes 10.8 points and 8.6 rebounds per game.
Scouting MSU: Morgan State lost its sixth game in a row on Wednesday, a 76-44 decision at Robert Morris. RMU led 46-20 at the half and never looked back, holding the Bears to 32 percent shooting from the floor. Tykyrah Williams scored a team-high 13 points and Danielle Robinson had 11 points, both off the MSU bench. Leading scorer Braennan Farrar was held scoreless and played just four minutes. Farrar leads MSU in scoring, at 10.7 points per game. Williams adds 9.4 points and 5.1 rebounds.
Morgan State was picked to finish ninth in the MEAC preseason poll. Â The Bears opened the year with a 74-36 win over Washington Adventist but have lost six in a row since. Â Â Â Â Â

All-Time Series vs. MSU: NSU leads the series with Morgan State, 20-13. The Spartans have won four in a row against MSU, completing regular-season sweeps of the Bears in the last two years. In all, NSU has won seven of the last nine against MSU dating to the 2010-11 season. The Bears' last win came on Feb. 4, 2013, a 57-48 win in Baltimore.
Finding the Range: The Spartans did not connect from behind the 3-point arc at Mississippi State, marking the first time in 30 games that the Spartans had failed to make a trey. NSU went 0-for-9 against Hofstra on Nov. 23, 2014, but had made at least one triple in the 30 games since then.
