NORFOLK, Va. – Despite being on the job less than two months before National Signing Day came and went last week, Norfolk State football coach
Latrell Scott is already drawing praise for his first recruiting class at NSU.
The Spartans' 13-man class to date was ranked ninth among all Division I HBCUs by FROM THE PRESS BOX TO PRESS ROW, which released its ninth annual list of the top-10 HBCU recruiting classes. The rankings are based on research conducted from school releases, local newspaper articles and recruiting boards.
The report cited NSU's four mid-year enrollees as being a boon to the program in addition to a number of athletic newcomers who signed last week. The report also lauded Scott's success with in-state recruiting, with 12 of the 13 signees to date from the Commonwealth of Virginia and three from the Tidewater area.
