Results

RICHMOND, Va. – Junior Steve Coles notched a victory in the 400 meters to highlight the NSU men's track and field team's efforts at the Fred Hardy Invitational last weekend hosted by the University of Richmond.

Coles ran a time of 48.80 seconds in chilly conditions to beat a field of 45 runners.

NSU's other top finish in the running events came from redshirt freshman Allan Frye. He bettered his time from the season-opening meet at U.Va. in the 400 meter hurdles. Frye finished fourth overall and third among collegiate runners in a time of 54.41 seconds.

The Spartan field athletes recorded a pair of top-10 finishes. Redshirt freshman Joseph Boyd placed fifth in the high jump (6 feet, 2.75 inches) and junior Clifton Thompson finished seventh in the discus (143-0).

The Spartans will be back in action at the Colonial Relays in Williamsburg this weekend.
