NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk State football team will hold its 2015 Green & Gold Game, its final spring intrasquad scrimmage, at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at William "Dick" Stadium. Admission is free.
The game will consist of four eight-minute quarters and will be played in an offense vs. defense format with an alternate scoring system. As in a normal game, the offense will get six points for a touchdown, three for a field goal and one for an extra point. The offense will also receive two points for a first down and two for reaching the defense's 20-yard line.
The defense will receive seven points for any touchdown it scores, and three for blocking a field goal, forcing a turnover (without scoring a TD) or forcing a three-and-out by the offense. The defense can also record two points for any sack or a fourth-down stop, and one for forcing a missed field goal or forcing the offense to punt.
Prior to the game, fans can visit the Kids Zone featuring games, giveaways and the opportunity to meet the Spartan mascot beginning at 12 p.m. next to Lot 9 (by
Marty L. Miller Baseball Field). Following the game, head coach
Latrell Scott and selected players will be available to sign autographs, meet and take photographs with fans.
Football season ticket sales also begin this Saturday. The NSU Ticket Center will be open from 12-4 p.m. for fans wishing to purchase their tickets before or during the Green & Gold Game. Schedule cards and posters will also be available for fans attending the scrimmage.
