NORFOLK, Va. – Coming off its first MEAC victory of the season, the Norfolk State Spartans (2-6, 1-4 MEAC) look to make it two in a row this week when they open a three-game road swing at Savannah State (2-4, 2-2). Kickoff is at 5 p.m. Saturday at Theodore A. Wright Stadium.

1st and 10
1.  The Spartans begin a stretch of three straight road games to end the 2016 season this week at Savannah State, where NSU has never lost.
2.  The Spartans snapped their six-game losing streak with a 27-14 win over Morgan State last Saturday on Homecoming and Senior Day at Dick Price Stadium.
3.  NSU, which led 10-7 entering the half, outscored the Bears 14-0 in the third quarter thanks to a pair of touchdown passes from
Greg Hankerson, who had three on the day. Hankerson had TD passes of 2 yards to
Larry Bishop and 63 yards to
Chuma Awanna in the decisive third quarter.
4.  Hankerson completed 17 of 30 passes for 219 yards and three scores and also rushed for a team-high 59 yards.
Marcus Taylor caught a game-high seven passes and
Cameron Marouf kicked a pair of field goals.
5.  NSU forced three turnovers from the Bears, thanks to interceptions by
Sandy Chapman and
T.C. Livingston and a fumble recovery by
Chris Lee.
6.  Savannah State won its second conference game of the season last week, evening its MEAC record at 2-2 after a 31-27 Homecoming win over Howard. T.J. Bell threw a 6-yard TD pass to Derek Kirkland with 19 seconds left for the winning score.
7.  Bell passes for 241 yards and one touchdown, while Arshon Spaulding rushed for 102 yards to lead the Tigers, who amassed a season-high 378 yards of total offense.
8.  This is the first time Savannah State has ever won two MEAC games in a season. SSU, which joined with the MEAC in 2011, beat visiting Bethune-Cookman 16-10 on Sept. 24 in its only other home game so far. The Tigers had not won two games in a season since 2009.
9.  The Spartans have won seven in a row over the Tigers on the field, though two of those wins were later vacated.
10. The last three games between the teams have all been decided by seven points or less, including last season's 20-17 overtime win by the Spartans in Norfolk. Savannah State's only win in the series was a 41-34, double-overtime win in Norfolk in 2004.

Hankerson, Marouf Move Up Career Record Lists
Senior kicker
Cameron Marouf is moving up the school's Division I records list for field goals made. The preseason All-MEAC second-team kicker - who also earned third-team All-MEAC postseason honors as a sophomore in 2014 - tied his career high with three field goals against NCCU. He now has 32 for his career.

Greg Hankerson moved into fourth place in NSU history in total offense with his 278 yards against Morgan State. Hankerson (4,122) moved past Casey Hansen (3,928).
