NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk State athletics department is currently accepting tailgating reservations for the 2016 football season, it was announced today.
 
The cost of one tailgating space for season ticket holders only, measuring 22 feet by 22 feet, is $85 for a single game or $340 for a season pass for all five home games this year. The season pass equals a savings of $85 off the collective game-by-game cost. Both single-game and season passes include access for one vehicle parking space. Each season ticket holder is limited to one tailgating space.
 
Cost of tailgating spaces for non-season ticket holders, which can be purchased beginning August 1, are $140 for a single game or $595 for a season pass. The season pass for non-season ticket holders equals a savings of $105 off the collective game-by-game cost. Included in either single-game or season passes are two game tickets and one vehicle parking space.
 
Tailgating spaces this year will be located in three locations. The first two locations, the same as last year, are the outside basketball courts between the west end of the stadium and Marty L. Miller Baseball Field and the grass area behind the baseball center field fence. The third location this season will be in the grass area on the band practice field, across the street from the NSU Tennis Complex.
 
In addition, RV spaces are also available for the 2016 season. For season ticket holders, single game tailgating passes are $100, and season passes are $400. Cost for non-season ticket holders is $150 for a single game and $640 for a season pass. The prices for non-season ticket holders include two game tickets. Parking locations for RVs will be assigned by the Department of Athletics and NSU Parking Services.
 
This year's home football schedule begins on Sept. 3 with the renewal of the Labor Day Classic against Elizabeth City State. NSU will also have back-to-back home games on Sept. 24 against North Carolina Central and Oct. 1 versus Howard, and then again on Oct. 22 against Bethune-Cookman and Oct. 29 versus Morgan State. The Oct. 29 contest will also serve as Homecoming presented by Smithfield.
 
All five of NSU's home games this year are set to start at 2 p.m., with gates opening at noon each time.
 
Tailgating lots will be open four and a half hours prior to each home game and will close three hours after the conclusion of the game. To purchase a tailgating space, call (757) 823-8152 or mail the tailgating reservation form to the address shown. Checks or money orders can be made payable to the Department of Athletics.
 
Aside from the one parking spot per tailgating space, any additional parking spaces can be purchased in Lot #34 for $5 on game day. Season parking passes, which can be purchased in advance of game day, will also be available for that lot at the NSU Ticket Center at a later date. Lot #34 is located behind the NSU police station.
