NORFOLK, Va. – Coming off a season-opening win over Elizabeth City State, the Norfolk State football team (1-0) plays the first of two consecutive games against nationally-ranked CAA teams when the Spartans visit No. 2 Richmond (1-0) at 6 p.m. Saturday at Robins Stadium. The game has been declared a sellout.

The game will be broadcast live on Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic, which is available in the Hampton Roads area on Cox Cable, Verizon Fios, DirecTV and Dish Network.

1st and 10
1.  This will be the first meeting between Norfolk State and Richmond in football.
2.  This is the first of two straight games NSU will play against nationally-ranked CAA football teams. The Spartans, who are 0-9 all-time against teams currently in the CAA, also visit No. 13 William & Mary next week.
3.  Saturday marks the return of NSU head coach Latrell Scott to Richmond. Scott has had two prior stints at UR, first as an assistant coach from 2005-07 and then as head coach in 2010. Scott, a Richmond native and graduate of Lee-Davis High School, helped UR reach the FCS national semifinals in 2007. As head coach, he compiled a 6-5 record leading the Spiders in 2010.
4.  This week's game also holds added meaning for three other Spartan assistant coaches. Cornerbacks coach Christian Parker (CB/WR, 2009-12) and quarterbacks coach Aaron Corp (QB, 2010-11) both played at UR. Parker, who also ran track at UR, played on the CAA title team in 2012, while Corp started 16 games behind center at UR after transferring in from Southern Cal.
5.  Additionally, NSU tight ends coach Mike Faragalli was offensive coordinator and QB coach at Richmond in 2008-09. He helped the Spiders win the FCS national championship in 2008 and the CAA title in 2009.
6.  NSU has 19 players on its roster from the 804 area code, including six who started last week's opener against Elizabeth City State: C Louis Humphrey (Chester/Thomas Dale), RB Quintreil Chung (Midlothian/James River), WR Marcus Taylor (Highland Springs), DE Jay Anderson (Richmond/L.C. Bird), DB Brandon Walker (Chester/L.C. Bird) and LB Nigel Chavis (Richmond/Armstrong).
7.  NSU is 3-25 all-time against teams ranked in the Stats FCS (formerly Sports Network Poll), including losses in its last two games against ranked foes, vs. No. 25 Maine (Aug. 30) and No. 16 William & Mary (Sept. 30) in 2014. At No. 2 nationally, Richmond is the highest-ranked team NSU has ever faced.
8.  The Spartans' last win over a ranked team was at No. 12 Bethune-Cookman (27-24) on Nov. 9, 2013.
9.  NSU has one additional connection with the Richmond football program. Senior NSU wide receiver James Church Jr.'s father was a star wideout at UR in the mid-1980s. James Church Sr. was an All-Yankee Conference selection in 1986.
10.  Last week marked the Spartans' first season-opening victory since 2012, when NSU defeated Virginia State. The Spartans lost to Maine in both 2013 and '14 before falling at Rutgers to open the 2015 campaign.

Some news and notes from the win over Elizabeth City State last Sunday:
•  The Spartans won a season-opener for the first time since 2012.
•  Receivers James Church Jr. and George Wahee caught their first collegiate touchdown passes.
•  Making his second career start, RB Quintreil Chung led the Spartans in rushing for the first time in his career, with a career-high 81 yards on 18 carries. It marked the most rushing yards of any MEAC running back in Week 1.
•  QB Greg Hankerson (205 total yards) topped the 200-yard mark in total offense for the fifth time in his last six games dating to last season, and third in a row overall.
•  NSU had nine players start for the first time at NSU, eight of whom were starting for the first time in college: WR George Wahee, OL Kenneth Kirby and Jake Mazgajewski, TE Torian Henderson, DL Deshaywn Middleton, LB Nigel Chavis and T.C. Livingston, and DB Hakiem Swann and Bobby Price. Swann started as a true freshman at N.C. Central in 2013, but was playing his first game as a Spartan.
•  The following true freshmen played in a college game for the first time: OL Kenneth Kirby, DB Bobby Price, DB J.T. Wahee, OL/LS Dominic Jordan, DL Josh Bryant.
•  The following redshirt freshmen played for the first time: WR George Wahee, WR Chuma Awanna, LB James Chapman, LB Cephas Harden.
