Last Meeting: NSU 17-10 (11-19-16)
Series Streak: NSU has won three straight

1st and 10
1.  One of the storied rivalries in HBCU football is renewed this week as Norfolk State hosts Hampton in the Battle of the Bay in an ESPNU-televised game. The game also features two of the four remaining unbeaten teams in the MEAC, as both teams enter this week 2-0 in the conference.

2.  NSU picked up its second straight win last Saturday with a thrilling 35-28 victory over Florida A&M in Norfolk. Larry Bishop III scored on a 2-yard TD run with 56 seconds left to account for the go-ahead score. The Spartans then forced a turnover on downs from FAMU.

3.  NSU forced a season-high five turnovers in the game and scored two defensive touchdowns. Kyle Archie scored on a 38-yard fumble return in the second quarter and J.T. Wahee had a 96-yard fumble return for a touchdown in the fourth quarter for the Spartans, who recovered four Rattler fumbles on the day.

4.  Quarterback Juwan Carter passed for 164 yards and two touchdowns. George Wahee (24-yarder) and Marcus Taylor (45-yarder) both made their first touchdown receptions of the season.

5.  Defensively, linebacker Anthony Smith made 18 tackles, two for lost yardage. Nigel Chavis had 12 tackles, one sack and forced two fumbles, while Archie made 10 stops, forced one fumble and recovered another. Archie's forced fumble and subsequent recovery by De'Shaan Dixon late in the fourth quarter set the stage for the Spartans' winning touchdown.

6.  Hampton (3-2, 2-0 MEAC) improved to 2-0 in conference play last Saturday with a narrow 17-10 victory at Savannah State University. Quarterback Delmon Williams threw a 33-yard touchdown pass to Aulden Knight midway through the fourth quarter for what proved to be the winning score.

7.  Running back Yahkee Johnson rushed for 76 yards and a touchdown and also made two catches for 62 yards for the Pirates. Johnson has a team-high 359 rushing yards and five touchdowns this season and ranks sixth in the MEAC in rushing yards.

8.  Hampton committed four turnovers at SSU, but also forced the Tigers into four turnovers, as well. Linebacker Raheim Huskey had 11 tackles and an interception, while lineman Owen Obasuyi had three of Hampton's five sacks.

9.  NSU is on a three-game win streak in the series following last year's 17-10 win at Hampton. The Spartans' last three-game win streak in the series was from 1978-80.

10.  With last year's win, NSU head coach Latrell Scott became the first Spartan coach to begin his NSU tenure with two straight wins over Hampton since Bob Ledbetter in 1972-73.
