Series Streak: NSU won last meeting

1st and 10
1.    The Spartans return from their bye week looking to improve to 2-0 in the MEAC when they face Florida A&M on CHKD Health Awareness Day.

2.    The Spartans' first game in the month of October kicks off a stretch of four home games in five weeks for NSU.

3.    NSU picked up its first win of the season in the team's MEAC opener on Sept. 23, a 17-7 victory at Delaware State. The performance was highlighted by freshman Juwan Carter's 292 passing yards and two touchdowns, both of which went to sophomore Chuma Awanna.

4.    The Spartan defense was also stout in the win, registering three sacks and three interceptions. Chris Lee had two sacks, while Nigel Chavis, Quintreil Chung and Bobby Price intercepted DSU passes.

5.    Carter completed 28 of 46 passes and connected with eight different receivers, with Marcus Taylor registering a career-best nine catches.

6.    Florida A&M (2-3, 1-1 MEAC) saw its MEAC record fall to 1-1 on the year after a hard-fought 21-14 loss to North Carolina Central last Thursday night in an ESPNU-televised game in Tallahassee. The Eagles scored the winning touchdown with 2:02 left in the game.

7.    The Rattlers held the defending MEAC champs to just 241 yards of offense, but managed just 258 yards of their own. Quarterback Ryan Stanley threw for 182 yards and Devin Bowers rushed for 76 while accounting for both touchdowns (one rushing, one passing).

8.    The Rattlers, predicted to finish sixth in the MEAC this year, have lost three of their last four since a season-opening win over Texas Southern. FAMU opened MEAC play with a 20-14 win at Savannah State on Sept. 23.

9.    This week marks the first meeting between these two teams since 2014. In the MEAC's unbalanced schedule, the Spartans did not face either FAMU or Delaware State in 2015 or 2016.

10.    NSU is 0-7 all-time against FAMU in Norfolk. The Spartans' only two wins in the series both came in Tallahassee's Bragg Stadium, in 2007 and 2014.
