Spring Game Preview - Defense Press Conference
NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk State football team will hold the 2018 Green & Gold Game, its final spring intrasquad scrimmage, at 7 p.m. Friday at William "Dick" Price Stadium. Admission is free.
The Green & Gold Game will consist of four 10-minute quarters and will be played in an offense vs. defense format with an alternate scoring system. In addition to standard scoring plays, the offense will also receive two points for fourth-down conversions and driving the ball inside the 20-yard line of the defense, and one point for each first down.
Defensively, one point will be awarded for each tackle for loss and pass breakup in addition to forcing the offense to punt. Two points will be awarded for sacks, stopping a two-point conversion and making a fourth-down stop. Three points will be awarded to the defense for forcing a three-and-out, creating a turnover or forcing a missed field goal, and seven points will be awarded for a takeaway that results in a defensive touchdown.
Prior to the game, head coach
Latrell Scott will also recognize the team's spring award winners for Most Improved Player and the offensive and defensive MVPs of spring practice. At halftime, members of the team's incoming recruiting class will also be introduced.
Fans attending the game will be able to purchase season tickets and also pick up copies of the NSU football schedule poster and pocket schedule card.
The Green & Gold Game will also include a pre-game "spring fling" for current Spartan Youth Club members at 6 p.m., which will include snow cones, cotton candy, poster signing, a photo booth and more.
