NSU Men Post Seven Top-Five Finishes at Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. –
The Norfolk State men's track and field posted six top-five finishes and a pair of event wins over the weekend at the Charlotte Invitational.

Freshman Keith Brown lowered his time in the 100 meters for the third straight meet, running a personal-best 10.54 seconds in a runner-up finish. Senior teammate Jaylen Carr also ran well in the 100, placing fifth in 10.74 seconds.

Freshman Trequan Barnes posted the fastest 200m time by a Spartan this year, a clocking of 21.42 seconds that earned him fourth place in that event. 

NSU also fared well in the 800 meters, with two athletes running in two different sections. Junior Tyson Robinson ran a season-best time of 1 minute, 53.30 seconds to place seventh in the faster section. Sophomore Felix Kiprotich won the second section of the 800 in 1:54.15.

In the field events, the Spartans took three of the top four places in the high jump. Sophomore Jacob Milton won his third high jump title of the outdoor season with a top height of 6 feet, 9.75 inches. Fellow sophomore Garth Warner was close behind in second, with a best effort of 6-8, and sophomore Kequan Henley jumped a college-best 6-6 to take fourth place.

Freshman Zaire Barnes also posted a season's best, with a top throw of 43-11.75 in the shot put. He placed 11th in the event.

The Spartans return to action this weekend at the Virginia State Trojan Invite in Ettrick, Va.
