NORFOLK, Va. – A total of 100 Norfolk State student-athletes were named to the 2017-18 MEAC All-Academic team this year, the most the athletics department has ever had on the team.

NSU's total was seven more than the school's previous high of 93, set in 2014-15 and then again in 2015-16. It is also a 14-person increase from last year's total.

Women's track and field led the way with 17 honorees this year, followed by men's track with 15 and baseball with 14. Both volleyball (12) and football (11) also reached double figures. Rounding out the totals were women's basketball (9), softball (8), men's basketball (6), bowling (5) and men's tennis (3).

The MEAC All-Academic Team includes the spring 2017 and fall 2017 semesters. The team honors student-athletes, including sophomores, juniors and seniors, with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better.
