NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State junior guard
Danyael Goodhope was named the MEAC's Co-Defensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Tuesday.
Goodhope averaged 8.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.0 steals over two games last week as the Spartans (9-8, 4-0 MEAC) continued their perfect start to the conference schedule.
The Norfolk, Va. native drew her first start of the season on Monday in NSU's 57-50 win over visiting Bethune-Cookman and filled the stat sheet with four points, five rebounds, five assists and five steals. Goodhope played aggressive, full-court defense throughout the game and was a key contributor to the Spartans' stellar defensive outing.
Goodhope currently ranks seventh in the conference with 1.8 steals per game.
Norfolk State goes for its first-ever 5-0 start to MEAC play on Saturday at Savannah State. The Spartans then follow up with a Monday clash at South Carolina State.
