NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State University will hold a ceremony recognizing the Spartans' seven retired basketball jerseys during the doubleheader against Maryland Eastern Shore on Jan. 26 at Echols Hall.
While the seven jerseys were retired some time ago, they have not been formally displayed until now. The former Spartan greats – five women and two men – who wore those jerseys will be honored and their jerseys unveiled in the Echols Hall rafters at halftime of the men's game on Jan. 26. The doubleheader begins with the NSU-MDES women's game at 4 p.m., while the men will tip off at approximately 6:30 p.m.

Men's Jerseys
#12 Bob Dandridge (1965-69): Dandridge was the 1969 CIAA Tournament MVP who went on to a 13-year career in the NBA which included four All-Star appearances. Dandridge's 32.3 points-per-game average as a senior in 1968-69 is the highest for any single season in Spartan history.
#34 David Pope (1980-84): Pope is second in NSU history with 2,339 career points and first in field goals made, with 950. A two-time CIAA Player of the Year, Pope was an NABC All-American as a senior in 1983-84. He was a third-round NBA Draft selection of the Utah Jazz. Pope passed away in 2016.
Women's Jerseys
#10 Tracy Saunders (1987-91): Saunders is third in NSU women's basketball history with 2,084 points and fourth with 978 rebounds. She was the 1991 Division II National Player of the Year after leading the Spartans to the Division II Final Four and a school-record 33 wins.
#12 Lisa Rice (1991-95): Rice was a three-time Division II All-American who holds school records for assists (1,067) and steals (439, tied) in a career. She was a four-time All-CIAA pick and the 1994 Player of the Year.
#23 LaTina Bullock (1993-97): Bullock is No. 2 in school history with 2,140 points. She averaged 25.7 points per game in 1995-96, when she was a WBCA All-American who scored a single-season school record 746 points.
#24 Vivian Greene (1974-78): More than 40 years later, Greene remains the school's all-time leading scorer, with 2,386 points. She averaged 25.1 points per game for her career, also a school record, and earned All-American honors as a junior and senior.
#33 Ann Theus (1982-86): Theus scored 1,941 points in her career and grabbed 906 rebounds, both of which rank among the top seven in program annals. Theus was a two-time All-American and CIAA Tournament MVP who also was a three-time All-CIAA selection.
