Norfolk, Va. -- The Spartans have had a week off since their 77-56 win over Hampton in this year's Battle of the Bay. NSU hits the road this weekend to play the West Virginia Mountaineers in a neutral site game hosted by the University of Charleston. Tipoff is at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center on Sunday at 4 p.m.
Series History vs. WVU
This will be the first matchup ever between these two teams.
A Win over WVU Would...

Scouting the Mountaineers
WVU is led by a duo of guards averaging double-figures.
Kysre Gondrezick leads the team with 18.7 points per game, which ranks fifth in the Big 12. Tynice Martin is second in scoring for WVU, averaging 12.4 points per game.
Forward Esmery Martin leads the Mountaineers in rebounds and steals, with eight rpg and two spg. Madisen Smith leads the team with 3.3 assists per game.
The Mountaineers are coming off of a 71-65 win against #10 Mississippi State on Sunday. The win marks the highest-ranked non-conference opponent WVU has defeated in their program history.

Chanette Hicks continues to pace the Spartans in scoring, dropping 22 points and shooting 8-of-10 from the floor in the Spartans' 77-56 over Hampton. Hicks leads the team averaging 21.4 points per game, also leading the MEAC in that category. Hicks also ranks 9th nationally in points per game, and won her fourth straight MEAC Player of the Week award on Tuesday.
Blaire Thomas had her third double-figure game of the season against Hampton, finishing with 19 points and seven rebounds. She leads the team with 6.2 rebounds per game, which ranks ninth in the MEAC.
La'Deja James is second on the team in scoring, averaging 12.6 points per game. Against Hampton, James scored nine of her 11 points in a second quarter run that fueled the Spartans to victory. James also grabbed nine boards in the contest, pushing her average up to 5.6 rebounds per game.
Saturday's win over Hampton was the largest series win against the Pirates in NSU's Division I history.
