NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk State softball program will hold two summer camps this July at the NSU Softball Field. The 2019 NSU Softball Camp is open to youth ages 6-13 and runs from July 15-19. The Nike Softball Camp is open to advanced players ages 12-18 and takes place from July 29-31.
The NSU softball camp will include both morning and afternoon sessions. Players can sign up for either one or both. Cost of the weeklong camp is $150 for either session or $250 for both for the full day camp.
Those prices are good through June 6. Starting on June 7, registration for the camp costs $175 for either session or $285 for both. There is also a discount of $25 for teams of seven or more who sign up together. Contact head coach

The Nike camp also runs from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. with a break for lunch. Cost of the camp is $285. To register for that camp, visit the
US Sports Camps website. There is also a discount for groups of players. Call the US Sports Camps office at 1-800-645-3226 for group discounts. The elite camp is designed for players with advanced skills in softball.
The NSU softball camp will include drill instruction taught by NSU players and coaches and covering offense, defense, pitching, catching, teamwork and mental aspects of softball. A certified athletic trainer will also be on site.
The morning session will run from 9-11:30 a.m., and the afternoon session will run from 12:30-3 p.m. with an hour break for lunch in between. Snacks will be provided, but campers must bring their own lunch as well as softball equipment, including glove, helmet, cleats and softball pants.
The Nike camp includes a camp t-shirt and prizes and daily instruction from college coaches with a low camper to staff ratio. Like the NSU Softball Camp, participants in the Nike camp will need to bring their own lunch and softball equipment. A detailed registration packet will be emailed that contains that will need to be brought to the first day of camp.
