NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State men's basketball head coach Robert Jones is one of 25 finalists for the 2019 Hugh Durham Award, College Insider announced on Friday.
 
The award is named for former Jacksonville, Florida State and Georgia head coach Hugh Durham, who is the winningest coach at all three places by either total wins or win percentage. It is presented annually to the top mid-major coach in Division I men's basketball.
 
Jones is the only coach from the MEAC nominated for the award. It was also announced earlier this week that Jones is a finalist for College Insider's Skip Prosser and Ben Jobe awards. This year marked his first nominations for the Skip Prosser and Hugh Durham Awards.
 
He was previously a finalist for the Joe B. Hall Award for most outstanding first-year D-I head coach in 2014. This year is his fourth nomination for the Ben Jobe Award along with the 2015-17 seasons.
 
The recipient of the Hugh Durham Award, as well as other College Insider awards including the Skip Prosser and Ben Jobe Awards, will be announced on April 5 at the College Insider Awards Event in Minneapolis, site of the 2019 NCAA Final Four.
