EGG HARBOR TWP, N.J. – The Norfolk State bowling team earned a pair of wins on Sunday to finish out the Hawk Flight Classic hosted by Monmouth at King Pin Bowling. The tournament also marked the conclusion of the 2018-19 season for the Spartans.
NSU defeated Bloomfield College twice to cap a 2-11 weekend. The 18-team tournament featured 10 nationally ranked teams.
NSU dropped all five matches on Friday in baker play and then again on Saturday during the traditional round. The Spartans collected a pair of wins over Bloomfield in between a loss to Morgan State on Sunday in the bracket round.
The Spartans also fell to Morgan State in their first match of the tournament, an 803-687 setback on Friday morning in Baker play. NSU also succumbed to No. 12 Delaware State (873-727), Saint Francis Brooklyn (936-788), No. 17 LIU Brooklyn (932-729) and to No. 8 Fairleigh Dickinson (921-789).
On Saturday in traditional play, NSU's closest loss came against No. 22 Monmouth in the middle of the five matches, 830-749. Before that came losses to Felician (872-672) and No. 6 Maryland Eastern Shore (954-681). No. 10 North Carolina A&T (885-654) and No. 11 Saint Francis (Pa.) (920-659) also defeated the Spartans later in the day.

The Spartans swept Bloomfield by 4-0 scores on Sunday in a best-of-seven series. They had a game of 245 in the match against Morgan State in the middle of the day. The Bears, however, won the last two games for a 4-2 victory.
NSU ended its year at 13-43.
