NORFOLK, Va. – After nearly a month on the road, the Norfolk State baseball team finally returns to the confines of
Marty L. Miller Field this weekend for a three-game MEAC Northern Division series against Maryland Eastern Shore. Due to the threat of weekend storms, the teams will play a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m. Friday. A start time and date for Game 3 will be determined later Friday evening.
This weekend's series marks the start of an 11-hame homestand for the Spartans and also serves as the beginning of the second half of conference play.
Live stats and live video will be available for all three games through

Scouting the Spartans
NSU fell to 11-18 overall with a 14-4 loss at the University of Virginia on Wednesday, the Spartans' first game against the Cavaliers since 2009 and first meeting with any ACC opponent since playing Duke in 2016.
Stephen Baughan and
Alsander Womack each went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, with Baughan also recording his fourth homer of the season.
Baughan is the Spartans' hottest hitter. He is batting .428 with six doubles and one homer in his last five ballgames, and has one at least one two-base hit in all five. His 13 doubles on the year lead the MEAC and he is now tied for third with four homers. Womack, returned last Sunday after missing six games, is hitting .420 this year and is riding a 16-game hitting streak.
NSU took two of three from Delaware State last weekend in their third straight conference series away from home, improving the team's record to 7-5 in the Northern Division, two games behind Coppin State for first place.
Scouting the Hawks
Maryland Eastern Shore is 9-27 overall and 3-9 in the MEAC North entering this weekend. The Hawks have dropped their last four games, including a 13-4 decision at La Salle on Wednesday.
MDES did, however, take a game from first-place Coppin State last Saturday in Salisbury, Maryland, thanks in part to 10 strikeouts over seven innings by starting pitcher Dwayne Marshall. Marshall has a team-high three wins on the mound this year and ranks fourth in the MEAC with 52 strikeouts.
The Hawks bat .233 as a team. Carson Davis (.296 average) and Dillon Oxyer (team-high 34 hits) have been two of the offensive catalysts.
MDES took two of three from NSU in their first series meeting this year, March 22-24 in Salisbury.
