NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk State bowling team will have eight meets this season, including the MEAC Championship in March, as the 2019-20 schedule rounds into form. The season will begin in early November.
The 2020 MEAC Championship, set for March 20-22, will take place at the AMF Lanes in Chesapeake for the eighth straight season. It will mark the only competition for the Spartans this year in the Hampton Roads area.
When the calendar flips to November, the Spartans will begin their season at the Virginia Union Invitational. NSU's only regular season tournament in the state of Virginia runs from Nov. 1-3. The Spartans also head to Maryland for the first MEAC meet of the year from Nov. 8-10. It will mark the last competition before the new year.
NSU will go nearly three months in between tournaments but then will have six in a seven-week span. Following the first MEAC meet, the Spartans are next in action from Feb. 7-9 at the Golden Bear Classic hosted by Kutztown. They close out the month at the James Brown Invitational hosted by Morgan State from Feb. 14-16 and then at the second MEAC meet on Feb. 21-23 in Pensacola, Florida.
NSU also competes the two weekends prior to the MEAC Championship. Up first is the second annual TNBA/HBCU Invitational Collegiate Tournament in Atlanta from March 7-8, and then the Northeast End of Season Tournament from March 13-15 in Delaware.
Following the MEAC Championship, the NCAA Championship takes place from April 9-11 in Michigan. The NCAA first round occurs on April 3-5 at various locations that will be announced later.
