EARLYSVILLE, Va. – Eight of Norfolk State's nine men's cross country runners in Friday's Panorama Farms Invitational posted season-best times to lead the Spartans to an 11th-place finish out of 16 teams.
Sophomore
Meshack Kipchirchir led the pack, running a season-best 8K time of 24 minutes, 51.1 seconds. That topped the MEAC's previous best time of the year entering the weekend, and helped Kipchirchir finish 28th out of more than 160 runners.
Freshman
Evans Cheruiyot wasn't far behind, finishing 36th in a season's best time of 25:01. Sophomore
Lelei Too was 62nd in 25:31.5, also his top time of the year, and senior
Anteneh Girma was fourth among the Spartans in 26:12.3.
Senior
Festus Bett posted a season-best timing of 27:30.1 to round out the top five. Freshmen
Je'Shawn Walker,
Taejon Morris and Zaid Kaudeyr along with sophomore
Kamil Jihad also competed and posted their top times of the season.
The Spartans have a couple weeks off before competing at the Under Armour Pre-Nationals at Indiana State University on Oct. 19.
