Spartans Drops 3 of 4 to Morgan State on Saturday

| By:
GLEN BURNIE, Md. – The Norfolk State bowling team lost three of its four contests on Saturday against Morgan State, as the two teams played a dual match in lieu of the Scott-Underwood Classic.

Facing off at Bowl America in Maryland, NSU and MSU played two traditional matches and two Baker ones to make up for the cancellation of the three-day Underwood tournament. The matches did not count toward MEAC records.

The Spartans lost both traditional matches but were able to salvage a win in Baker play. NSU won the second Baker match, 802-780, after falling in the first one, 832-786.

The Bears cleaned up in traditional play, earning wins by 892-800 and 823-806 margins. For NSU, freshman Megan Wheat averaged 196.5 in the two traditional games to lead the way. Junior McKayla Lang rolled a 207 as part of a 188.0 average in those two games.

Sophomore Crystal Brewer bowled a 169, as she and sophomore Dieonjonai Haupt competed in both games as well. Freshmen Jasmin Hudson and Chanel Staton split the other spot in the lineup.

NSU will next compete in the Golden Bear Classic, hosted by Kutztown, from Feb. 7-9.
