NORFOLK, Va. - The Norfolk State University Department of Athletics will be launching the C.L.E.A.R. (Commitment to Leadership, Excellence, Achievement and Results) Leadership Academy at the start of the Spring 2021 semester. The C.L.E.A.R. Leadership Academy aims to develop world-class leaders for a lifetime of service and success. The C.L.E.A.R. Leadership Academy focuses on four phases of leadership development focused on skill development, practical application, experiential learning, and self-reflection.  

The C.L.E.A.R. Leadership Academy inaugural class will consist of 15 student-athletes who have been nominated by either their coach or an athletic administrator as an emerging leader within their respective teams and the campus community. 

As we kick off our inaugural class, the C.L.E.A.R. Leadership Academy is seeking highly motivated and committed individuals to serve as mentors to our emerging leaders. This partnership will provide a high quality of mentoring that will enrich the learning opportunity for our student-athletes. Becoming a C.L.E.A.R. Leadership Academy mentor allows for NSU alumni and NSU supporters a meaningful way to give back to the university and stay connected with the athletic department while providing our student-athletes a platform in which professional skill sets can be learned, career interests and expectations can be discovered, and professional networks can be built. 

The ideal mentor must have a passion for helping student-athletes at Norfolk State University. The ideal mentor must commit to six months in which they will have monthly meetings between them and their assigned mentee. At the end of the six-months, mentors and mentees can choose to continue their current mentorship, elect to be matched with an additional student-athlete or mentor, or opt-out of the C.L.E.A.R. Leadership Academy mentor program entirely.
