NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State running back J.J. Davis received his fifth MEAC Rookie of the Week award and third straight Monday as the conference announced its weekly football honors.

Davis topped the 100-yard mark for the third straight game and fourth time this season in Saturday's 28-26 loss at Delaware State. Davis rushed 20 times for 115 yards and a touchdown, an 8-yarder in the second quarter. Counting last week's MEAC Offensive Player of the Week honor, Davis has collected six weekly conference awards this season.

Davis enters the final weekend of the season as the MEAC's leader in rushing yards, with 854 (85.4 per game). He has scored 10 total touchdowns, nine rushing and one receiving, and averages 7.6 yards per carry.

The Spartans cap the 2021 season by hosting South Carolina State for Military Appreciation and Senior Day this Saturday. Kickoff is at 2 p.m. at Dick Price Stadium.
