NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State senior guard Camille Downs was named the MEAC Co-Women's Basketball Player of the Week on Tuesday, the league announced.

This is Downs' second straight week earning some former of weekly recognition by the conference. Last week, she was selected Defensive Player of the Week.

This past week, Downs averaged 21.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 3.5 steals in two games for the Spartans, going a combined 12-for-25 (48.0%) from the floor and hitting 16 of her 20 free throws (80%). In NSU's win over UNCW, Downs recorded her second double-double of the season with a career-high 22 points and 10 rebounds to go along with four steals and a block. In Sunday's game at William & Mary, she turned in a 20-point, 6-rebound, 3-steal, 2-assist effort in a 55-50 loss.

Downs, who transferred from UNCW prior to the season, has had an immediate impact for the Spartans (4-7). The Fredericksburg native is fourth in the MEAC in scoring (12.2), fifth in steals (2.3) and 13th in rebounding (5.5). She shared the conference's top award this week with Coppin State's Aliyah Lawson.

NSU is off for the holiday before returning to action Dec. 28-29 at the St. Joe's Hawk Classic in Philadelphia.
