Kara Grant outkicked teammate
Fridah Koech to win the 3,000 meters as the Spartan women's track team opened the season Sunday at the KMS Opener at the Virginia Beach Sports Center.
Grant posted a winning time of 10 minutes, 49.51 seconds to win the 3K. Koech was close behind in second, with a time of 10:54.68.
NSU used the meet as a chance for its distance runners, coming off a championship cross country season, to get one race in prior to the holiday break. The rest of the Spartan track team opens its season at the Gamecock Opener Jan. 14-15 in Columbia, S.C.
