NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State senior second baseman
Alsander Womack was named Monday as the MEAC Baseball Player of the Week, the conference announced.
Womack hit .368 (7-of-19) with at least one hit in all five of the Spartans' games last week. He scored seven runs and knocked in six during the stretch.
In last Tuesday's game at Old Dominion, Womack hit a three-run homer and drove in four runs total in the loss, tying a career high. This past weekend, Womack went 4-for-10 with four runs scored as NSU took two of three from North Carolina Central.
Womack, the 2020 and 2021 MEAC Preseason Player of the Year, has now won three MEAC Player of the Week awards in his career. He is batting .346 this season.
