Andersen Named MEAC Pitcher of the Week

| By:
NORFOLK, Va. – Sophomore right hander Cam Andersen added another honor for the Norfolk State softball program. The Norfolk native was named the MEAC Co-Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday by the conference office.

Andersen pitched six innings in a shutout over Delaware State last weekend, helping the Spartans to eventually take three of four games in the series and lock up a bid to the MEAC Tournament.

She pitched six innings of a seven-inning, 4-0 victory against the Hornets in game 1 last Friday. Andersen allowed just four hits with five strikeouts to improve her overall record to 7-3 on the year. She now owns a 2.52 ERA in 14 appearances, 12 starts. She has struck out 58 in 64.0 innings of work.

The award marked the fifth for pitcher of the week honor for the Spartans this year, and the second for Andersen. She took home the first award of the season on Feb. 23. This week, she shared the accolade with Kiara Hurley of North Carolina Central.

NSU closes out the regular season on May 4-5 with a four-game, non-conference series at Radford. The Spartans went 12-7 in the league this year and will be either the North No. 1 or No. 2 seed in this year's MEAC Tournament, set for May 13-15 at the NSU Softball Field.
