EUGENE, Ore. – The Norfolk State men's 4x100 relay team posted a time of 40.18 seconds Wednesday night at the 2021 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Hayward Field, but was unable to advance to Friday's event final.
The quartet of
Kai Cole,
Keith Brown,
Bryan-Madison Ahouman and
Trequan Barnes placed eighth in its heat and 21st overall out of the 24 teams that qualified for the championship meet. That standing has the Spartans in position to earn honorable mention All-America honors in the event once awards are announced following the meet.
The relay team, which also included
Anthony Franklin and
Savien Hayes earlier in the year, is just the second in NSU history and first since the 1998 4x100 squad to qualify for a Division I national championship meet.
