NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The new-look NSU women's tennis team opened its fall schedule last weekend at the Christopher Newport Invitational.
The women finished the hidden duals 3-1 with wins over Longwood, Washington College and North Carolina Wesleyan while dropping a decision to host CNU.
Newcomers Sasha Evdokimova, Breana Cook and Amber Fuller all won matches in their first competition in the green and gold.
Andrea Barcenas also notched a win vs. CNU.
"There are a lot of positives to take away from our performance last weekend," head coach
Larry Holmes said. "I love the way the ladies competed and fought."
The Spartan women are back in action this weekend at the Hokie Invitational in Blacksburg.
