UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Indya Richards and
Malika Pride both recorded a pair of top-five finishes to highlight another strong showing for the NSU women's track team over the weekend at the Penn State National Open meet.
Richards set personal records in both of her events, finishing as runner-up in both. Richards clocked a time of 8.41 seconds to finish second in the 60-meter hurdles. She followed that up with a runner-up showing in the long jump thanks to a PR of 18 feet, 8.5 inches.
Pride lowered her season-best time while placing second in the 400 meters. She posted a time of 55.15 seconds in that event, more than half a second faster than last week at South Carolina. Pride also finished fourth in the 200 meters in 24.58 seconds.
Richards was one of three Spartans to place in the top eight in her two events.
Tania Dunbar logged a fourth-place effort in the long jump with a top leap of 17-0.5.
Jada Venters was eighth in the same event (17-6).
Dunbar also finished eighth in the 60 hurdles, one spot behind fellow teammate and freshman
Alyssa Thompson-Rowe.
The Spartans are back in action next weekend at the University of South Carolina Invitational.
