SMYRNA, Del. – Sophomore Mercyline Kimaiyo became the fourth Spartan female to win the MEAC individual cross country title, leading three All-MEAC Spartans as NSU finished as conference runner-up at Saturday's MEAC Championship at the Delaware State Outreach and Research Center.
Kimaiyo was the fastest MEAC female during the regular season and showed the same form on Saturday. She finished the 5K course in 18 minutes, 2.3 seconds, more than 40 seconds ahead of runner-up and teammate,
Tynniesia Wilson. Wilson picked up her second straight All-MEAC honor with her personal-best time of 18:44.4.
Senior
Kara Grant also earned All-MEAC honors by posting a personal record. She was fourth overall with a clocking of 18:57.8.
Freshman Emani Thompson (24th) and
Faith Jemutai (33rd) rounded out NSU's top five.
Howard won the team title with 32 points. NSU finished with 62.
Kimaiyo joins three-time winner
Martha Bissah (2017-19), Agatha Gitundu (2001) and Eva Lustigova (1999) as MEAC women's cross country champions from NSU.
