NORFOLK, Va. – Fresh off her MEAC-leading 6K time last weekend, Norfolk State sophomore
Mercyline Kimaiyo won MEAC Cross Country Athlete of the Week on Wednesday, the conference office announced.
Kimaiyo ran the fastest 6K time by a MEAC athlete this year when she crossed the line in 20 minutes, 58.7 seconds at the Paul Short Invitational last Friday in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. She finished fourth overall in the stacked field of more than 400 athletes.
This is Kimaiyo's first career MEAC honor. She has been NSU's top finisher at each of the team's three meets so far this year.
The Spartans are off this weekend before running in the Panorama Farms XC23 Invitational on Oct. 15.
