NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State competed in its first MEAC meet of the season over the weekend, finishing 1-7 with a win over Howard in Millsboro, Del.
The Spartans defeated the Bison in thrilling fashion, outscoring their opponent 766-765 for a one-pin victory. Heading into the fifth and final game trailing 642-613, NSU used a clutch 163-123 finish to secure the comeback win.
NSU dropped matches against North Carolina A&T (954-798), UAB (879-811), Monmouth (865-821), and UMES (919-731) on Friday, before defeating Howard on Saturday morning. After the Howard result, NSU fell to Morgan State (914-761), Delaware State (932-872), and Coppin State (874-687).
Across nine baker matches and 45 total games, the Spartans finished with a total pinfall of 7,115, averaging 158.1 per game.
Norfolk State will compete again next weekend from Nov. 19 – Nov. 20 at the Lady Eagles Invitational in Baltimore, Md.
