Hernandez, Seale, and McCree Receive MEAC Postseason Honors, Most in Program History

| By:
NORFOLK, Va. – Carla Hernandez, Shonte Seale, and Sydney McCree received MEAC Postseason Honors on Tuesday, marking the first time in program history that three Norfolk State volleyball players have earned MEAC postseason accolades in a single season.

Hernandez and Seale both earned spots on the All-MEAC Second Team, the first time a pair of Spartans have been named to either of the top two teams in a single season. McCree capped off her impressive opening season with an All-Rookie Team nod.

An outside hitter from Hatillo, Puerto Rico, Hernandez has become one of the most versatile threats in the conference in her lone season at NSU. She's racked up 735 kills and 178 digs this year, including four double-doubles. Hernandez amassed 22 kills and 15 digs against North Carolina Central, both season-highs, the former slotting her 11th in NSU history for single-match kills.

Opposite Hernandez, Seale has powered the NSU offense with 2.70 kills per set, ranking fourth in the MEAC. She posted a season-high 18 kills against The Citadel early in the season, while putting on an efficient display in Norfolk State's road sweep over Delaware State, recording 13 kills on a .462 hitting percentage.  Seale already sits 14th in Norfolk State history in career kills, with another year of eligibility remaining.

McCree ranks third in the MEAC with 7.19 assist per set, earning MEAC Rookie of the Week honors on three occasions.  The freshman setter has tallied five double-doubles, setting a career-high of 48 assists against North Carolina Central. McCree is the only player in the conference with 600+ assists and 50+ kills.

The accolades come during a season in which NSU has amassed seven conference wins for the first time since 2013, including impressive road victories over Delaware State and Maryland Eastern Shore. The Spartans open the MEAC Tournament against UMES on Friday at 2:30 p.m.
