NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State football ended the 2022 campaign with a bang on Saturday, defeating South Carolina State 42-38, and have received multiple weekly accolades to show for a few standout individual performances. The conference announced the final weekly honors of the season on Monday afternoon, with three Spartans making the list.

Sophomore quarterback
Otto Kuhns was named MEAC Football Offensive Player of the Week, while junior
Tyler Long was named MEAC Defensive Player of the Week. Running back
Kevon King earned MEAC Rookie of the Week honors.

Kuhns posted a historic stat line in NSU's win, throwing for 242 yards and five touchdowns. He also rushed for the game-winning score, becoming the second Norfolk State player since 2000 to account for six touchdowns in a single game.

Long, the MEAC's leading tackler, added 13 more to his season totals on Saturday, including a career-high 12 solo tackles. Hel also racked up three tackles for loss and a pair of sacks, making his presence known all over the field.

King capped off his stellar freshman campaign with 86 yards on 10 rushes against the Bulldogs, averaging 8.6 yards per carry. He broke free for a 57-yard gain on the Spartans' final offensive possession, setting up Kuhns' winning touchdown moments later.
