NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk State men's basketball team couldn't get their shots to fall from 3-point land on Tuesday night against the No. 1-ranked squad in the country, dropping a road bout with Houston 100-52.

The Spartans made 1-of-18 3-point attempts on the night, their worst shooting performance of the season. Houston, alternatively, enjoyed one of its hottest shooting performances of the year, draining 17 3-pointers on a 51.5 percent rate.

Kris Bankston led NSU with 14 points and four rebounds, while
Cahiem Brown also scored in double-digits with 11 points. The Spartans dropped to 5-3 on the season, all three losses coming against teams ranked top-10 nationally at the time of each meeting.

Although Houston dominated from behind the arc, the Spartans and Cougars proved much tighter inside on Tuesday. The Spartans scored 34 points in the paint, while Houston posted 38.

Norfolk State returns to Norfolk for a cross-town meeting at Old Dominion on Saturday at 7 p.m. A win would give NSU its first victory against the Monarchs since 1999.
