Road Challenge Awaits Spartans at Alabama

| By:
NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State women's basketball faces potentially its staunchest test of the season on Sunday afternoon, when the Spartans (9-2) face SEC opponent Alabama (8-2) on the road.

The game will be aired on SEC Network+, as NSU and Alabama meet for the first time in the programs' histories. Alabama carries a six-game win streak into Sunday's 3 p.m. ET (2 p.m. local) matchup, while the Spartans have won eight of their last nine games.

Last Time Out

Norfolk State, after securing its best 10-game start to a season in the program's Division I history, saw its eight-game winning streak snapped at the hands of crosstown foe Old Dominion last weekend.

Camille Downs led the Spartans with 14 points and eight rebounds before fouling out early in the fourth quarter. The team's foul trouble and cold shooting performance kept the Spartans from mounting a comeback, falling 65-44 at Chartway Arena.

Scouting the Crimson Tide

Alabama has hit its stride the past couple of weeks, building a six-game win streak that started with a three-point win over Wake Forest.

The Crimson Tide's offensive firepower runs through Preseason All-SEC Second Team selection Brittany Davis, who averages 17.1 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. Davis has recorded 20 or more points in four games this year, opening the season with 26 points against Alabama A&M.
