Norfolk, Va. – Norfolk State women's tennis returns from a nearly two-week layoff when it faces Virginia Tech on Friday at 5 p.m. The match will take place at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center in Norfolk, Va. NSU enters the meeting 0-1 on the year, with the Hokies owning a 2-3 record.

Amber Fuller, making her first regular season appearance in an NSU uniform, was the only Spartan to win a set. She lost to Elisa Van Meeteren 2-6, 6-0, 6-3 at No. 2 singles.
Scouting the Hokies
Virginia Tech opened the season with a 6-1 win against ETSU, with the Hokies' only lost point coming at the No. 2 singles position. The win didn't come easy, though, as three of the six singles matches required third sets, one going to a tiebreak.
The Hokies traveled to Cincinnati, Oh. for their next two matches, where they fell 4-1 to Michigan State and 4-3 to Xavier. The team returned to Blacksburg where it split its next two meetings, losing 6-1 to Charlotte before bouncing back with a 6-1 win against Marshall.
Tamara Barad Itzhaki leads the team at No. 1 singles, winning three out of here four matches at the position this season. The back end of the lineup has seen many different combinations, with Charlotte Cartledge, Katie Andreini, and Semra Aksu all getting chances at the No. 5 and No. 6 slots.
