NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State sophomore right handed pitcher Nolan Manzer was selected to the preseason watch list for the 17^th annual National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Stopper of the Year Award, given to the top relief pitcher in Division I baseball.

Manzer is one of the 66 players to make the initial list. He was also voted as a preseason first-team All-MEAC selection earlier this month.

Manzer made 14 appearances in relief last season as a true freshman, posting a 0.73 ERA. He allowed just 10 hits and two earned runs in 24.2 innings pitched while fanning 29 hitters. In his first appearance of 2022, he pitched three scoreless innings and allowed just one hit with three strikeouts.

The NCBWA, founded in 1962, presents the Dick Howser Trophy to the nation's top player and the Mike Martin National Coach of the Year to the nation's top coach. It also selects All-America teams for all divisions, a Division I Freshman All-America team, rookie hitter and pitcher of the year, Division I, II and III Dick Howser Trophy National Players and Pitchers of the Week and Division II and III National Players and Pitchers of the Year.
