NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State junior outfielder
Dionte Brown was named the MEAC Baseball Player of the Week on Monday by the conference office.
Brown batted .538 (7-of-13) in the Spartans' three-game series with Marist. He had at least two hits in all three games, with a 3-for-4 effort in the middle game of the series. Brown hit two triples in that game and another on Sunday to give him three for the year, the most in NCAA Division I after the first weekend.
Brown also scored three runs, drove in two and stole two bases in the opening weekend.
Brown and the Spartans host Georgetown for a three-game series starting this Friday at Marty L. Miller Field.
