Cary, N.C. – Morgan State got the best of Norfolk State on Thursday, defeating the Spartans 7-0 to open the MEAC Tennis Roundup at Cary Tennis Park.
 
NSU dropped the opening doubles point, losing at No. 2 doubles 6-0, and 6-3 at No. 1.
 
The Spartans lost the No. 6 singles slot by default, before 
Roosevelt Brown III and 
Jeremiah Zellander fell 6-0, 6-0 at the No.  4 and No. 5 positions, respectively. 
Ibrahim Abbas lost to MSU's Nihit Rawal 6-0, 6-1 on Court 3.
 
Playing his first collegiate dual tennis match, NSU freshman 
Hugo Massoni Lena showed promise at the No. 2 singles position. He lost a tight battle against MSU's Rhajzon Rankins 6-4, 7-5.
 
Federico Rebecchini tallied his second singles loss of the season on Thursday, falling 6-1, 7-6 against top-seeded Bear Mikeal Carpenter.
 
The Spartans fall to 0-4 on the season, 0-1 in the MEAC. NSU will return to Cary Tennis Park on Friday for a matchup with Howard.
