Cary, N.C. – Howard defeated Norfolk State 7-0 on the second afternoon of the MEAC Tennis Roundup at Cary Tennis Park on Friday.
Federico Rebecchini received the Spartans only win of the day, coming out on top of a three-set battle at the No. 1 singles position.

Rebecchini won the opening set 6-4 against Howard's Justin Cadeau, but Cadeau fought back to win the second 7-6 by taking the tiebreak 8-6. The pair played a third set tiebreak to decide the match, with Rebecchini escaping with an 8-10 victory.

Rebechinni and
Hugo Massoni Lena won 6-4 at the No. 1 doubles slot, but the Bison took the doubles point by winning the other two matches. Massoni Lena eventually lost 6-2,6-1 to Howard's Marcel Dawson at No. 2 singles.

Howard won the No. 6 slot by default, and NSU freshmen
Roosevelt Brown III and
Jeremiah Zellander lost 6-0, 6-0 at positions No. 4 and No. 5, respectively. The Bison won on Court 3 as well, as Daniel Duncac defeated
Ibrahim Abbas 6-0, 6-2.

NSU falls to 0-5 with the loss, 0-2 in the MEAC. The Spartans will remain in Cary, N.C. for one more match as part of the MEAC Tennis Roundup, facing Coppin State on Saturday at 3 p.m.
